Abstract

The growing burden of non-communicable diseases (NCDs) in Pakistan has raised significant challenges for the healthcare system, especially in the context of primary healthcare (PHC). NCDs, such as cardiovascular diseases, diabetes, chronic respiratory diseases, and cancer, are responsible for a large percentage of deaths in the country. This study explores the role of primary healthcare systems in combatting NCDs, evaluating their effectiveness, and identifying the barriers faced by PHC facilities in Pakistan. The paper further investigates the potential of PHC in early diagnosis, prevention, and management of NCDs, with a focus on improving healthcare access, healthcare infrastructure, and the capacity of healthcare providers.
